Celebrating Lovettsville:<\/strong><\/p>\n Annual Lovettsville Historical Society <\/strong><\/p>\n Fundraiser & Membership Appreciation Event<\/strong><\/p>\n Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Board of Directors of the Lovettsville Historical Society & Museum has announced that it will hold its third \u201cAnnual Fundraiser and Membership Appreciation Event,\u201d on Sunday afternoon, September 22, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. The event is held to raise funds for the Lovettsville Historical Society\u2019s Museum Expansion Fund, aimed at providing more space for the Museum\u2019s exhibits and displays,\u00a0and to honor present and future donors and members. It\u2019s a friendly Lovettsville-style gathering\u2014a chicken The event, open to all who cherish Lovettsville and \u201cGerman Settlement\u201d history, is a good time.\u00a0It\u2019s relaxing, to begin with\u2014comfortable for long-time residents and newcomers both\u2014and by the end The Lovettsville Historical Society hopes to encourage attendees (and even those who can\u2019t come) to make a\u00a0\u00a0donation to help with the Museum Expansion Fund\u2014but then that\u2019s Lovettsville \u2013style, too; a gentle sell over a\u00a0cold beverage for you to think about. Your generosity, membership, and good company will keep the\u00a0Lovettsville Historical Society\u2019s future bright to serve the coming generation.<\/p>\n
\nbarbecue and get-together\u2014at the historic farm of Fred and Anne George just south of town at 13620 Berlin\u00a0Turnpike (on the east side of Rt. 287).<\/p>\n
\nof the afternoon, it is likely that you will have met some new friends, heard a few outrageous stories from
\nlong-time residents, learned something new about the region, and made a helpful contact or two. And then there\u2019s the food: superb barbecued chicken with all the expected trimmings and beverages, enough to sate the\u00a0appetite and leave you with a full belly. Then of course there\u2019s the laughs. Fred George is a well-known local businessman as well as the President of the Lovettsville Historical Society. But back in the day, he used to\u00a0be a kingpin of the infamous \u201cLovettsville Gang\u201d\u2014that was in high school when our region attended Loudoun\u00a0Valley\u2014and he remains one of the region\u2019s best raconteurs, good at getting the others going. You\u2019ll be sharing\u00a0those stories on Monday, for sure, getting your own laughs while being glad you live here. Meanwhile, in the\u00a0background, the Short Hill Mountain Boys will be strutting their stuff with a fine course of Blue Grass music.<\/p>\n
