Our role is educational, primarily–we want to help you understand this region’s past through records, photos, artifacts, the historical landscape we’ve inherited, and by stories. We are a mix of experts and enthusiasts, and many who are new to the area and just curious to find out about where they live! Between early German settlement, our years as an agricultural breadbasket, the divisive Civil War (this region was caught in the middle), the Potomac River, the B&O Railroad, C&O Canal, and one of the better-preserved landscapes in the country including miles of original roads–we have many stories top share with you, young and old, longtime resident or just arrived!
