Some Lovettsvillians have lived here all their lives, but most have become residents here within the past 10-15 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

For all those who want to learn more about the Lovettsville community and its history, Sunday, February 9th, will be your opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n

On that day, the Lovettsville Historical Society will present a special program, especially for the benefit of our more recent arrivals, but one which old-timers will enjoy just as much. It is called “Lovettsville 101: An introduction to The German Settlement,\u201d <\/i>and it will feature a 30-minute video made for the \u201cOn this Ground\u201d series on Loudoun Cable TV in 2006. It tells the story of \u201cThe German Settlement,\u201d now called Lovettsville, from the time before European settlers arrived, up to the present time.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program is narrated by local historian and educator Richard Gillespie, and features interviews with a number of long-time Lovettsville-area residents. We anticipate having some of those who were interviewed for the 2006 program, present and available to answer questions on February 9th.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to learn about Lovettsville\u2019s unique and fascinating history, over the past 300 years and more, and what makes this area so special and unique in Loudoun County and the Commonwealth of Virginia, come on February 9th and enjoy the program. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Lovettsville Museum will be open after the program for a reception and refreshments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2:00 program will be held at St. James United Church of Christ, at 10 East Broad Way in Lovettsville. It is free and open to the public, but donations and are welcome to defray expenses of the program. <\/span><\/p>\n
