This year\u2014our 50<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;anniversary as an historical society and the 250<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;of the American Revolution and our Declaration of Independence,&nbsp;our board&nbsp;has&nbsp;chosen&nbsp;to zero in on the American Revolution&nbsp;a second time, focusing this year on the varied&nbsp;<em>impacts&nbsp;<\/em>of the Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with our previous seminars, we&#8217;ll use a moderator&nbsp;to introduce the topic, a panel&nbsp;to grapple with it, and&nbsp;end with&nbsp;a&nbsp;chance for&nbsp;our audience&nbsp;to tackle the&nbsp;questions raised as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our panelists this year will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Travis Shaw<\/strong>, the Director of Education at the Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area and a Revolutionary War re-enactor;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alicia Cohen<\/strong>\u00a0of the Loudoun Black History Committee, who has been zeroing in on loyalists during the year; \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bill Wilkin<\/strong>, a retired Loudoun County Public Schools history educator who has offered a series of lectures on the military history of the American Revolution this year;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tracy Gillespie<\/strong>, a\u00a0longtime\u00a0history educator with NOVA Parks who\u2019s been examining the role of women in Virginia and locally during the Revolution; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mike Zapf<\/strong>, Lovettsville Historical Society Secretary who has been playing with Germans and the American Revolution;\u00a0and <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ed Spannaus<\/strong>, our Lovettsville Historical Society Vice President and longtime researcher of everything Lovettsville. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The moderator for the seminar will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rich Gillespie<\/strong>, veteran history educator from Loudoun Valley High School and the Historian Emeritus of the Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All serve on the Loudoun VA250 Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our seminar programs are&nbsp;two&nbsp;hours long&nbsp;and&nbsp;include&nbsp;a break in the middle&nbsp;for light refreshments&nbsp;and it makes for a&nbsp;social and intellectually&nbsp;engaging Sunday&nbsp;afternoon.&nbsp;
