“Give me liberty or give me death!”

Patrick Henry Program Coming in December

Stephen P. Wilson, Executive Director of the St. John’s Church Foundation, will present a program on Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech which took place on March 23, 1775, at St. John’s Church in Richmond, during the Second Virginia Convention. This was just 27 days before the first shots were fired at Lexington and Concord.

Wilson’s talk will focus on the historic events that led to Patrick Henry’s immortal speech, will include a dramatic performance of the nine-minute speech, and will report on plans to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the speech next March. He will also discuss the 120 delegates who attended the Second Virginia Convention at St. John’s Church, including the two who represented Loudoun County. This special program will take place at St. James United Church of Christ in Lovettsville, on Sunday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m.
