Sgt. Rob Jones to be honored on Veterans Day in Lovettsville (2011)

The Town of Lovettsville and the Veterans Association of the Lovettsville Historical Society invite the public to honor our Veterans at the Lovettsville Town Center Square on Friday, 11 November 2011, at 11 a.m.  The new Veterans Memorial will be dedicated with a wreath-laying ceremony.  The veterans memorial obelisk, which has stood in front of the Town Hall for the past 20 years, has been moved to the new Veterans Memorial in Lovettsville’s new Town Square.  Former State Senator Charles Waddell will give the keynote address.

One of our honored guests will be Sergeant Rob Jones, United States Marine Corps, who grew up in Lovettsville and who has survived horrific combat wounds in the war in Afghanistan.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for Sergeant Jones will be held at St. James United Church of Christ, with a screening of Survive. Recover. Live. (The Rob Jones Story), an uplifting account of this young man’s recovery. Refreshments will be served.
