Please help us to continue to preserve Lovettsville’s unique history by making a tax-deductible donation to the Lovettsville Historical Society’s Museum Expansion Fund as part of your year- end giving.
Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar due to the offer of a generous supporter to match all donations up to $10,000. If you donate $1,000 by year’s end, the Expansion Fund will receive $2,000. Our museum needs to expand to provide more space for artifacts, activities, and research.
Your donation will stay right here in the Lovettsville community. The Lovettsville Historical Society operates the only town-centered Museum in Loudoun County, the only Museum dedicated solely to telling the story of the town in which it is located. And we do it all with volunteers.
Our volunteers have done an outstanding job in renovating and upgrading our Museum, with exciting new displays and a more spacious and well-lit atmosphere. But we have far more artifacts and materials in our inventory — and stories to tell — than we have room for at the present.
Our archives and research facilities are used by local residents and people from across the country who are looking for their Lovettsville roots, or who want to know more about the history of their home.
We need more space for displays, activities, and research.
The Fund’s balance is now just under $60,000. Our goal this year is to hit at least $80,000 — $10,000 in donations, to be matched by an additional $10,000 from our benefactor.
However, we are short of our goal for this year, so we are making this special appeal to our friends and supporters.
Your gift supporting the LHS’s Museum Expansion Fund, if made by the end of December, will be tax-deductible for this year, since the LHS has been designated an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Contributions of $2500 or more – if you consent — will be acknowledged on a permanent plaque to be displayed in a new Museum facility.
