LHS Free Lecture Series: “The Way It Was: Reminiscences of Old Lovettsville” – Blue Ridge Leader (2011)

Blue Ridge Leader
September 28, 2011

Lifelong Lovettsville resident Glenn Grove will discuss life in Old Lovettsville, especially the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, as the next event in the Lovettsville Historical Society’s lecture series, on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at St. James United Church of Christ in Lovettsville.

Mr. Grove, who has lived in Lovettsville for all of his 88 years – except for his service in World War II – has written three essays on Lovettsville’s 20th century history, which will be available for sale at the October 9 lecture. These are: “The Way It Was,” “Hidden Monuments of Lovettsville Past,” and “The Butcher Shop Complex.”

Mr. Grove’s reminiscences will be of great interest to many local residents – both old-timers who lived through those years, and newer arrivals who want to learn about the town’s fascinating history.
