Announcement of the
Annual Membership Meeting
of the Lovettsville Historical Society, Inc.
Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
St. James United Church of Christ
10 East Broad Way, Lovettsville
The Annual Meeting will include a report on highlights of our activities over the past year and the year to come, by our President Fred Lee George III – who will also tell you about our progress in designing our expanded Museum building. Our Museum Director Mike Zapf will discuss developments in the Museum itself, including a new and important acquisitions. Education Director Rich Gillespie will review last year’s programs and discuss planned programs for 2024, including preparing for the nation’s 250th Anniversary in 2026, and the possibility of another round of the popular “Where We Live: Lovettsville and the German Settlement” field classes. And there will be more, and we encourage your input to help in this process.
We will also be treated to a presentation by the “Phone Wizard,” Bruce Patterson, who is a generous donor to the Lovettsville Museum. Bruce will discuss his phenomenal collection of antique telephones.
We will also conduct such business as is needed, including nomination and election of the Board of Directors for the coming year.
A reception with light refreshments will be held in the church’s Fellowship Hall following the business meeting.
All friends and supporters of the Lovettsville Historical Society are invited to attend the meeting, but only members in good standing may vote.
If you are a member or donor, we thank you.
And if you are not yet a member of the Lovettsville Historical Society, we urge you to join today. This is a great way to show your appreciation of your Historical Society and its programs.
NOTE: We cannot take memberships online on the LHS website at the moment. In order to better protect our members’ personal data, we are no longer using Square Store. We will soon have another provider.
Meanwhile, memberships can be taken out or renewed at the Lovettsville Museum on Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., or on Sunday at the Annual Meeting.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on January 14!
