The Board of Directors of the Lovettsville Historical Society is pleased to announce the creation of a “Museum Expansion Fund.” Donations to this fund will be used exclusively either for improving our present facility, or acquiring an additional building.
This is one of a number of initiatives to launch new programs for the community, being taken under the leadership of our new president, Fred Lee George III.
Another is the launching of the “Living Legends of Lovettsville” series. The first event, honoring Mr. James “Jimmy” Spring, was enormously successful, drawing over 120 people to New Jerusalem Lutheran Church on December 11. (The video on Mr. Spring’s life, prepared by John P. Flannery, can be viewed on the LHS website.)
And of course we will be continuing our highly-regarded Lecture Series, which has been called the best historical lecture series in Loudoun County. Our lectures draw a varied audience not only from Loudoun County, but from the entire Virginia-West Virginia-Maryland tri-state area.
Our online presence is growing rapidly, with our updated and expanded website, and an active presence on Facebook.
To keep up with our expanding activities and new acquisitions, our Museum needs to expand, to provide more space for displays and activities. That is why we have launched the Museum Expansion Fund. We already have commitments for two generous donations to start the Fund.
You too can be a part of this. We have a wonderful and unique history in Lovettsville and The German Settlement. Let’s be sure to preserve it for the present and future generations.
Your gift supporting the LHS’s Museum Expansion Fund, if made by the end of December, will be tax-deductible for this year, since the LHS has been designed an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Contributions can be made online by credit card, on the LHS website at https://squareup.com/store/lovettsville-museum.
Or checks may be mailed to: Lovettsville Historical Society, P.O. Box 5, Lovettsville VA 20180, attention “Museum Expansion Fund.”
Contributions of $1000 or more, will be acknowledged on a permanent plaque to be displayed in a new Museum facility.
